Finding answers to the pain of fibromyalgia can seem daunting. One woman was able to do so successfully, and we wanted to share her story of hope as presented in the Journal of Upper Cervical Chiropractor Research.
A 45-year-old woman complained of the following:
- Migraines
- Back pain
- Neck pain
- Depression
- Numbness in her fingers
- Sciatica
- Duodenal cancer
- Right knee pain
She had an extensive history of trauma beginning at age 15 when she dove into a shallow pool. Over a period of the next 25 years, she was in a total of 10 vehicle accidents. She was then diagnosed with fibromyalgia by her primary care doctor. Just 5 years later, she was injured when she fell down a flight of stairs increasing her symptoms of fibromyalgia.
She was seeking the care of general chiropractors and found some relief for a 12-year period. Nonetheless, she was still in pain and suffered from depression. She was given prescriptions for Soma, Vicodin, and Flexeril but she was not able to climb stairs, swim, or walk more than 20 feet. As a final resort, she began to use a wheelchair to help her with her daily routine.
She then began to seek the care of an upper cervical chiropractor. The results were astonishing!
Results of Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care
She went for her 1st reevaluation, and she reported the sciatica in her left leg and her fibromyalgia symptoms had completely resolved. She was able to make it through her daily routine and sleep well at night. She took no more pain medication and had more energy.
On her 2nd re-evaluation, her back pain and persistent headaches were gone.
After 6 months of care, during her 5th re-evaluation, she noted that her knee pain was gone and she no longer had to use a wheelchair. She was doing housework and yard work, swimming, walking longer distances, and standing for long periods of time without using any medications.
