Vertigo Relief, Dizziness Relief, Dizzy, Meniere’s Disease Relief, Vertigo, Dizziness, Meniere’s , Meniere’s Disease Vertigo has been described as the feeling that a person or the things around him are spinning. This often has to do with the vestibular system, the system of the body responsible for helping maintain balance and telling the brain where the body is located in its environment. If something is malfunctioning with this system, vertigo is often the end result. This can be a temporary condition or more severe, leading to other complications. What may cause the vestibular system to malfunction?

Reasons Why Vertigo Occurs

  • Labyrinthitis: This is swelling of the inner ear that can be triggered by an infection (i.e. the flu or a respiratory illness) that causes irritation in the ear. If it is very severe, hearing loss can be a complication.
  • Vestibular Neuronitis: The vestibular nerve runs through the inner ear and lets the brain know when a person moves unless it is inflamed and the messages become distorted. This can make one feel he or she is moving even when still.
  • Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo: This occurs when a person stands up too fast or moves the head quickly. It can also occur following sports accidents.
  • Meniere’s disease: Known for tinnitus, pressure in the ear, and hearing loss, this condition also involves the inner ear.

Where to Find Relief from Vertigo

The main thing a person is concerned with while suffering from vertigo due to any of the above reasons is where to find help. One area that has seen success in helping vertigo patients is upper cervical chiropractic care. If a misalignment has occurred in one of the top two bones of the neck, it may be the cause of vertigo.

Upper cervical chiropractors are specifically trained to find these misalignments and then work with patients to correct them. This often gets the body back on track and helps healing to begin. Many vertigo patients report a decrease in symptoms, while others see their symptoms go into total remission.
